February 2020

Everyone's participation and contribution to the monthly meetings are important and needed. 
Come out and support your club at the monthly meetings and carving sessions!!

Monthly Meetings:
  Monday February 17th 7:00PM (Note we will start at 7:00 so we can get to carving after business)
      1. Welcome new members!
      2. Comments and ideas on how to increase attendance to carving sessions, meetings and the show.
      3. Have you paid your 2020 Club dues??
      4. Lancaster Millersville show is March 21,22nd. Need volunteers for club table Sat and Sun.
      5. Suggestions for next club group project.
      6. Group Project led by Jamie Woods
Flat plane carving of a traditional Scandinavian Tomte gnome with walking stick.
The project will start at the Monday Montly meeting and continue on the Wednesday meetings.
We have a limited supply of 25 blanks, so please let us know who wants to participate.

March 16th
      1. Week before the Lancaster Millersville carving show, need volunteers for club table.

September 2019

Hello Everyone,

I trust everyone had a great summer! Now it time to start turning our attention back to monthly carving meetings, the annual carving show & events, and the need to be a volunteer and for volunteers!! 

Monthly Meetings:

September 16th starting at 7:30
      1. We have a lot to cover and discuss so everyone's attendance is needed and greatly appreciated!
      2. Hopefully everyone has been carving over the summer and you can bring some of your work in to show everyone
      3. Discussions about the show, event coverage (see volunteers needed), club projects
      4. Bring your show application in!!!

October 21st starting at 7:30

Upcoming events:

      1. Need carvings for the Riddle Village and Aston senior center show cases for the month of Oct
      2. Oct 6th: The club has a booth at the Del Community College flea market. Need volunteers for talking up the show & club
      3. Linvilla Pumpkin days. 1st weekend is Oct 12th & 13th and the 2nd weekend is Oct 19th & 20th. 
            1. Like to do both weekends but we need volunteers. The 2nd weekend is one we have been attending
      4. November 2nd & 3rd:  36th Annual show, all hands on deck!!

Please let us know what when and where you will be able to participate ASAP either in person, email, text, or thru another club member!! FYI, we checked and Lou Turks doesn't have any conflicts with our schedule!! 

      1. Oct 6th flea market looking for 5 -6 people spaced over the day so no one has to stay the whole day
      2. Linvilla Pumpkin Days:  Looking for 6-8 people spaced over the day each day so no one has to stay the whole day

      3. Dave Irons needs volunteers to distribute and hang flyers. Also he need people to contact organizations, centers, senior communities, and other potential locations.
     4. Bill Ruhl & Bob Messinger need volunteers to distribute and place signs for the show
     5. Greg Merk needs Raffle prizes and christmas ornaments for the tree. See Greg for cutouts, he has a large and better selection this year!!
     6. Show volunteers, set up / clean up & take down,  
    7. As always we need to be talking up the club, show, and looking for new members!!
   8. Everyone one's participation is needed and greatly wanted!!

 CLUB MEETING 
The April monthly club meeting is on Monday 4/15 at 7:00 PM Tomesko building Penn State 
ALLCLUB MEMBERS- your attendance and participation is wanted and needed!!!! 

We will be having a carving session with Dave Irons.
The subject is a Stick Chicken!
A fun quick carving that all levels can participate and enjoy. 
Please respond back ASAP if you will be attending so we can have ample carving sticks available. 
And Make sure to bring your carving tools to the meeting. 

 ACTIVITIES 
May 20th Tentative carving class with Arleen Zomer (Carving project TBD) 

June Carving class needs a volunteer to demonstrate. Please let us know if you are interested in leading a session. 
Club Picnic date TBD 

July and August No monthly meetings. Our weekly carving sessions are still on going throughout the summer. 
Check your emails or our web site and facebook for possible events or carving classes. 

LAST MONTH'S MEETING NOTES 
Financial report The club bank statement after the show and other expenses and income remains about the same. 
Show We have locked down the 35th annual show dates on Nov 2nd and 3rd 2019. Discussion on how we can increase attendance. 
           Do we need to change our selection of vendors or exhibitors to get more attendance? 
           Do we have vendors (tool reps) give demos? 
           More hand-crafted arts and crafts, jewelry or painting exhibitors? 
We are looking for more ideas and suggestions. Your input is very important! 

COMMUNITY 
Other club shows: 
Del Val show March 30 & 31st - Our club will have a table there. We need volunteers to man the table.

COMMUNITY 
Riddle Village Retirement Community has asked us to display carvings in their reception entrance showcase for the month of Oct. 
We need about 25 to 30 pieces for the show case for the month. 
The showcase is in the main lobby across from the front desk and is locked at all times. 
This is a great opportunity for you to display your work and great exposure for the club and show.

We will have a table there to make contact with people advertise for our show and hopefully sign ups for membership in our club.
We need volunteers to work the table, 2-3 each day.

Linvilla Orchards Pumpkin Land pumpkin carving demo
Last year was a lot of fun and a great success carving all the pumpkins we wanted. 
Inspiring people for their pumpkin carving as well as advertising for our show and memberships.
We need volunteers to carve, at least 4-5 each day.
